We should be doing everything achievable to produce geothermal free energy technologies. Though largely unexploited, this form of free energy has immense potential and it is created from the earth itself. Enormous quantities of energy lie under the upper crust of the earth, on which we lie, and all that is necessary is to tap the source and take control over it.
The temperature at the center of the earth is sixty times more than the boiling point of water and the heat emanating from it make forces which can be felt only a few miles under the surface of the earth. These forces contain large amounts of free energy and there are tons of heated fluids in the form of magma, which can be seen pouring out of the earth, during a volcanic eruption. These fluids also trickle to the surface as steam and come forth from vents.

We can develop our own vents, and we can produce out own containment chambers for the magma and convert all of this free energy into electricity to light and heat our homes. To produce a geothermal plant, a well needs to be dug in an area with abundant source of magma or heated fluid, then a pipe has to be used to bring up the fluid on to the surface level to get the necessary steam power. The steam would turn a turbine engine, which would generate the electrical energy.
There are unfavorable judgments of geothermic free energy tapping which prevents it being applied on the large scale which it should be. Skeptics claim that finding the right area for tapping these resources would be too costly as well as time-consuming. In addition, the set up cost of a geo-thermal plant is again cost-prohibitive and there is not guarantee that the venture would yield profits later. Some geo-thermal sites, once tapped, might be found to not produce a large enough amount of steam for the power plant to be viable or reliable.
Even conservationists have shown their concern that pumping up magma could also carry with it several detrimental materials. However the advantages of geothermic energy can easily beat these criticisms, if only we examined the matter in greater depth. The truth of the matter is that since this free energy is created by earth itself, it cannot contain any important pollutants. geothermic free energy can be extremely productive and it does not take great efforts to produce it once the site is chosen and the plant set up.
A geothermic plant is also not as huge as say a dam or an atomic energy unit, making it a lesser risk to the environs. Being an alternative source of free energy, its use would lessen our dependence on coal and oil. The best logic in the favor of geo-thermal free energy is that it would not finish and its value would not increase with time, since it would be present till the earth exists. The use of geothermic energy would be, in the end, very cheap, after investigation and energy plant building costs are recovered.
